The Pharmacy Guild of Australia claims its Queensland members were denied any chance to restock vital medical supplies for asthmatics as fire mitigation burns led to poor air quality.
They were not told of plans for a state government fire mitigation burn, which has resulted in the world’s unhealthiest pollution to the sky over Brisbane.
Sky News can reveal the Palaszczuk government has failed to measure the health effects of its burn-offs.
The smoke levels were peaking over Brisbane’s west at 24 times higher than the safety threshold of the World Health Organisation.
“I woke up, and I was a little bit wheezy, and I do have asthma, so certainly it did come as a shock, and it would have been nice to have a heads up,” Pharmacy Guild Queensland President Chris Owen said.
A Queensland resident called the hazard reduction burns “hazard creation burning” because the smoke from the burn-offs is affecting many people.
