Reformer Pilates is a variation of the body conditioning practice done on a specialist machine.
Pilates itself is a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on balance, posture, strength and flexibility, often using body weight for resistance.
In comparison, Reformer machines use springs for resistance to work muscles through a range of motions.
They typically include a base board and some sort of fabric hook or rope to pull and pull on.
But according to Pilates coach Maia, you can make your own reformer machine in the gym.
All you need is a row machine and an elevated surface, such as a big box.
Taking to TikTok, Maia demonstrated a range of exercises you can complete on the contraption.
Among these are abdominal crunches, side crunches and single leg extensions.
Maia dubbed the video “your sign to save your money and do Reformer Pilates workouts at the gym” with the row machine.
“POV: You found a way to do Reformer Pilates workouts in the gym and now your abs are sculpted, your waist is snatched and your entire body has never been more toned,” she added.
With people unable to fork out £60 on exercise classes amid the cost of living crisis, Maia’s followers have dubbed her “genius”.
She has a cool 75k followers on video sharing app TikTok, where she shares exercise and motivational fitness videos.
The influencer says she is on a mission “to make fitness fun again”.
