Sharing her advice online, money-saving whizz Paige explained that free shipping is a con and you should never fall for the ‘low on stock’ messages when shopping online.
Posting her tips on social media, Paige uploaded her clip with the caption ‘And when I say never, I mean almost never. I’m not perfect but have come a LONG way and can help you do the same.’
She then said: “Five things I never do with my money as a spending coach who helps women stop impulse shopping and overspending.
“The first thing is I never spend money from a place of fear or scarcity, which is really hard to do in today’s world, because scarcity, urgency and fear tactics is the number one way that marketers and retailers get you to spend money that you weren’t planning on spending.

“When they tell you that there’s only a certain amount left, that something’s gonna go out of stock, that the price is gonna go up – these are all tactics to scare you into spending money.”
Paige then revealed all about how she deals with ‘free shipping’, as she added: “The second thing I never do with my money is to add more things into my cart just to get free shipping.
“Now I will say this, there’s only one scenario where I will actually do this, which is when the amount I have to add to my cart is exactly what the shipping is.
“However, that actually very rarely happens.
“Our brains view shipping as an inconvenience cost, a fee that we don’t want to pay, and so we will irrationally spend more just so we don’t have to pay for that shipping.
“I don’t ever spend more just to save a little.”
Following this, Paige stressed the importance of not spending money on things that can’t actually be purchased.
She continued: “The third thing I never do with my money is to try and buy things that I know can’t be bought.
“I never try to solve an internal problem that I’m having with an external solution, meaning I never try to buy my confidence, I never try to buy my self-worth.
“There are just certain things that can’t be bought.”
As well as this, Paige explained that you shouldn’t spend money on things if you’re doing it for someone else.
The expert revealed: “The fourth thing I never do with my money is spend money for other people over spending it for myself.
“[In the past] I ended up spending a lot of money on things that weren’t really me, but I thought that other people would like them.
“I wanted to fit in, I wanted to belong and so I ended up spending a lot of money for other people, but it didn’t do much for me.”
Finally, according to Paige, you mustn’t buy things, if you think you will most likely return it.
She advised: “The fifth and final thing that I never do with my money is buy something when I know that I’m most likely going to return it.
“[It’s] using spending to get a dopamine hit.”
Paige’s TikTok clip, which was shared under the username @overcoming_overspending, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and has since amassed a staggering 1.2 million views.
Social media users revealed the money traps that they often fall into, whilst thanking Paige for her advice.
One person said: “Adding more for free shipping…. Guilty.”
Another added: “I need this content right now.”
A third commented: “So much wisdom in this video! Thanks!”

Whilst someone else chimed in: “Omg I fall into the returning thing allll the tiiiiime.”
