The Primark version costs just £60 and according to Gina, ‘actually contains more wool’
WITH temperatures continuing to drop, many people will be on the lookout for a new coat to wrap up in this winter.
But one fashion fan has told how you haven’t got to spend a small fortune on a stylish number from Zara…after she spotted a replica in Primark that looks almost identical but with one major difference – the price tag.
Rather than forking out £189 on the more expensive brand, Primark are flogging a dupe for just £60 – meaning you can save yourself a whopping £129.
In a clip shared to TikTok (@ginaatinukeknight), Gina shared aof the two coats which bear a striking resemblance to one another thanks to their large lapels, pocket detail and smart fit.
“A gentle reminder that Zara isn’t inherently better than Primark just because it’s more expensive,” she says.
“Both branch uses a fast fashion model.”
She then shares an image of the wool blend coat in Zara.
Looking at the fabric label inside, she notes: “It has 50% wool, the rest of it is made up of recycled plastic, it’s doublefaced but it has no lining so it’s probably going to pile on the inside – and it costs £189.”
She continues: “Natural fibres cost money and I’m not saying a wool coat shouldn’t be £189 plus, if it’s being made etethically – but, what is the different between this and this one from Primark?”
Speaking of the Primark coat, she claims: “This coat has a better structure.
“It’s lined fully and actually contains more wool.
“Buying from Zara doesn’t make you more superior, it just means you’re probably a bit more susceptible to marketing ploys.”
Gina then asks: “Should we take a long hard think about how Primark managed to get a wool blend coat down to £60? Absolutely.
“But let’s not get scammed by Zara for making the clothes in exactly the same way.”
The video has since gone viral, garnering a whopping 287k views with very mixes responses.
“Winter coat without lining for £200 is criminal,” wrote one.
A second penned: “Zara is overpriced, but the design and fit is superior to Primark (not that much in Zara fits me anymore).”
A third commented: “My Zara coat is SO bobbly and I haven’t even had it a year.”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “£200 And Zara’s coats bobble too.”
Another added: “Marketing doesn’t work on me. I never see ads for Zara but the quality is superior to Primark.”
