HANDS up if you’ve set yourself a New Year’s resolution to get fit and lose weight in 2024?
Well, if you’re feeling determined but don’t know where to start, then online nutritionist Aaron Nee is on hand to help – and according to the pro, you just need to follow four simple steps.
In the video shared to TikTok (@aaron_nutrition_), he begins: “This post is for complete beginners who want to kick off 2024 on the right foot and lose some fat…and it doesn’t involve a gym, going out running, or even tracking your calories.”
First up, he begins by discussing the importance of steps.
“Now, you always hear 10,000 steps being banded about but in reality, that’s just a made up number,” he says.
“You don’t need to do 10,000 steps to lose weight – you just need to increase on what you already do.
“And it’s actually really annoying because people who can’t do 10,000 steps due to work commitments or looking after their families then think they can’t use steps to their advantage.
“All you’ve got to do is look on average at how many you’ve been doing over the last two-three months.
“If you’ve been doing 2,000, get 4,000 steps in, if you’ve been doing 5,000, get 7,000 steps in.
“This will massively benefit you…you do not need to be doing 10,000 steps.”
Secondly, he advises to eat more protein.
“Get protein on your plate at every meal,” he recommends.
“If you do that, you’re going to be very close to hitting your protein targets and why? Because protein suppresses the hunger hormone, Grehlin.
“If you’re less hungry, then you’re going to eat less.
“Not only this but your body actually burns more calories digesting protein when compared to carbs and fats.”
Next up, the online nutritionist recommends drinking more water.
“Aim for around two litres a day,” he says.
“This again is going to keep you fuller, but also improve your general health, making you feel better – and probably mean you move more and therefore burn more calories.”
Finally, he concludes with a rather cheeky step four – which he says is to follow his social media pages.
“I give out loads and loads of free advice that people are literally messaging me saying they are losing weight just from following my social media,” he explains.
“You can educate yourself for free – all you have to do is hit the follow button.”
Aaron finishes: “If you just do these four things religiously, I bet most of you will start losing weight and start feeling so much better.
“You don’t need to over-complicate things, it can be as simple as that.”
He captioned the post: “4 easy steps to lose fat this January for complete beginners to dieting.”
